I am using the direct socket transfer option to move audio files to a remote location. I'm sure the IP and port are correct but Personal Companion indicates a file transfer error. What could be wrong?

If the IP and port entered in Personal Companion's setup are confirmed to be correct the problem may be with the File Transfer Server (FTS). First, use License Administrator to confirm that the FTS is licensed for WAN support. Without WAN support a client from outside the server’s network will be rejected although Personal Companion may indicate that a connection was successful. Second, if the File Transfer Server is on a computer that is behind a router/firewall, check for appropriate IP forwarding. The router/firewall may require that the port used by the FTS be specifically forwarded to an internal IP address (a.k.a. Port Address Translation, Network Address Translation or IP Forwarding). The default port used by File Transfer Server is 1702 and therefore this port (TCP) will need to be "opened" on the router/firewall.
