Dataworxs applications are for professional use and therefore supported and recommended OS's are Windows 2000, XP, Vista, 7, 2003 Server, and 2008 Server. Windows NT may also be used in many cases.
Some Dataworxs client applications will also work in Mac OS X in an Intel-powered Mac running virtualization software such as Parallels. Specifically, Audioworxs Player and AudioWav Mic have been successfully run on Mac computers using Parallels.
Note: At least one user reports to Dataworxs that AudioWav Mic using an Olympus DR-2000 works well in Parallels version 3 but NOT version 4.
Dataworxs application may also work in Windows 98SE but because Dataworxs no longer thoroughly tests its applications in this environment it is not recommended or supported.
You should be aware of the following limitations when choosing an operating system:
- Depending on which telephone interface card is used, Call Manager may need to run on a Windows 2000, XP, Vista/7, 2003 Server, or 2008 Server computer. Telephone interface cards should run on a 32-bit Windows OS. A Synway USB telephone interface device may be used in a 64-bit Windows OS.
- Because Windows NT does not support USB devices it cannot be used if using the Audioworxs or AudioWav Player with a USB footpedal, using AudioWav Personal Companion to retrieve audio files directly from a digital portable recorder that connects to the PC with a USB cable, or AudioWav Mic to record audio via USB based microphone.
- Testing on Windows 7 and 2008 Server has demonstrated that all Dataworxs applications, including Audioworxs, run successfully in these OSes. However, in some cases, especially when an application is writing to a configuration file or report file in the Program Files folder, the default User Access Control (UAC) setting may need to be changed to "Never notify". Alternatively, installing Dataworxs applications to C:\Dataworxs Systems instead of the default C:\Program Files\Dataworxs Systems will overcome most issues with UAC restrictions.
