If configured to do so, Windows Explorer window will automatically pop-up when a removable drive device (such as the Philips or Olympus digital recorder) is plugged into the computer. To change the configuration of Windows so that a Windows Explorer window will not pop-up each time, run RegEdit and traverse to the following key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionPoliciesExplorer
Change the value NoDriveTypeAutoRun so that bit 2 is a '1' (i.e. 00000100). For example, if the current value is 0x91(145) change it to 0x95(149). Changing this value will affect how Windows responds to all removable drive devices plugged into the computer.
