Import Manager will not import an audio file if (A) the audio file is a format that is not supported by your current license, or (B) the appropriate CODEC is not installed, or (C) the Author ID contained in the audio file being imported is not a valid Audioworxs Author ID, or (D) a sound card is not installed in the Import Manager workstation.
- Unsupported Audio Format: Some audio formats require optional licensing from Dataworxs. Run License Administrator, select Import Manager from the application list and press the “Administer…” button to check which formats are currently supported. If importing from an Olympus digital portable (DS-3000/330/2000) make sure that the Standard Play (SP) mode is selected on the unit.
- CODEC Not Installed: The Windows operating system does not support some of the Dataworxs supported audio formats by default. For these formats you must install the appropriate CODEC (Coder/Decoder) in order for Windows to recognize the format. A list of installed CODEC’s can be found using your computer’s Device Manager. Right click on “Audio Codecs” found under “Sound, video and game controllers”. Select Properties from the right-click menu. The installed CODEC’s are listed in the Properties tab. Specifically, you may need the Rhetorex ADPCM CODEC (rhetorex.acm) and the Norcom Voice Systems ADPCM CODEC (nvsadpcm.acm), both which can be installed from files found in the install_folder\Dataworxs Systems\Codecs folder or on the distribution CD. Click here for additional information on required CODEC’s.
- Unknown Author ID: Even if an audio file is recognized as a valid format that is appropriately licensed, it may contain an Author ID that is not recognized by the Audioworxs system. In this case the audio file will be moved to the “Unknown Folder” specified in Import Manager’s setup window. Use Import Manager’s “File-->Import Unknown Jobs…” menu option to determine what Author ID is expected and make sure that a valid Group Number Association is assigned to the specific audio type. Group Number Associations are defined in the User Groups tab in the setup window.
- No Sound Card: Import Manager requires a sound card be installed in the workstation in order to perform some necessary format conversions.
